Ghana presidential candidates sign peace pact ahead of polls

Presidential candidates in Ghana have committed themselves to a peaceful election in a peace deal signed in Accra after they were convened by the National Peace Council.
In the peace pact, the seven contenders took the commitment to follow electoral rules and ensure that Ghana stays peaceful after the election.

Speaking during the ceremony John Mahama said the pact gives comfort that Ghana will continue in peace and stability, further indicating that Ghana’s democracy is too precious to be “gambled away on the altar of an unbridled quest to hold unto power.”
Incumbent President John Mahama will face six other candidates with his biggest nightmare being Nana Akufo-Addo.
Nana Akufo-Addo, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party said his wish is to ensure that Ghana maintains its position as a shining example of democracy in Africa.
