Nigeria: Electoral body distributes‘756,000 PVCs in Kogi’

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) of Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Kogi State, Mall Halidu Aliyu Pai has disclosed that out of 1,189,356 Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) sent to the state, 755,777 has been distributed across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Halidu who stated this in Lokoja at a meeting with journalists and secretaries of political parties weekend, in the state said a total of 433, 576 PVCs are yet to be collected by the rightful owners.

He added that 554 applications have also been received from eligible voters seeking for inter-state transfer of voter cards while 272 also seek for intra-state transfer which he said, were already receiving attention.

The resident electoral commissioner who said if INEC must conduct free and fair elections in 2015, the party leaders, contestants and their followers must change their “do or die” attitude to good conduct of election, urged all stakeholders to desist from the use of unguarded utterances to unnecessarily overheat the polity.

“Those whose particulars were not in INEC database are advised to present themselves for fresh registration.
