Nigeria: Former president of Ghana leads ECOWAS to check Nigeria’s preparations for elections

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor will on Tuesday, 28th October, lead a delegation of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to begin a three-day pre-Election Fact-Finding Mission of Nigeria.
Former President Kufuor leaves Ghana on on Tuesday, 28th October and his mission will engage President Goodluck Jonathan and various political stakeholders to access the state of preparedness for Nigeria’s general elections next year.
The delegation will also meet with the Chairmen and National General Secretaries of the ruling People’s Democratic Party and the opposition All People’s Congress, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, and the Inspector General of Police, among others,
Former President Kufuor, however leaves Accra on Sunday, 26th October, for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the head of a delegation of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) for discussions on possible ways of funding with the Chairperson and officials of the African Union.
The former President will leave Addis Ababa for Abuja on Tuesday.
He is expected back Thursday, 30th October.
