Sudan: Rebels Attack Oil Producing Capital in Bid to Disrupt Election

Sudanese rebels shelled the capital of the main oil producing state of South Kordofan on Wednesday, disrupting voting for the country’s presidential and parliamentary elections amid a low voter turnout as the country’s election body extended the polls by an extra day.

At least four people, including two children, were killed after rebels from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North group fired rockets and mortars at Kadugli, South Kordofan’s capital, according to government spokesman Rabie Abdelaty.
